History: When Phil and Taylor bought the house five years ago, there was no garden or plantings except for a few rhododendrons and a lawn. Inspired by the Children’s Garden at Fort Williams Park, Phil imagined a space where their two young children could wander along stone-lined paths to enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of a plant-filled garden. Since then, Phil and Taylor have added over 270 different plant species and cultivars to create a “pollinator highway” that connects the natural setting to fruit trees and a vegetable garden. Phil has grown many of the native plants from seed.
Themes: Gardens featuring native plants and unusual fruit trees in a woodland setting, with a special focus on food for wildlife and people. Includes spaces for the family such as a sauna and a patio with seating.
