Fort Williams Oral History Project

In early 2016, former Friends of Fort Williams Park Education Committee Chair, Janet Villiotte, reached out to Jim Rowe, President of the Cape Elizabeth Historical Preservation Society to initiate the Fort Williams Oral History Project. They held a number of video interviews with people who were connected with Fort Williams when it was still an army base. Cape Elizabeth High School students provided editing and production assistance.

“Fort Williams has played roles in many parts of my life. But none of my stories compare to the stories of the veterans who served there or the
children who grew up there.”—
Jim Rowe
