Garden Tour FAQs

When is the tour?

Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Will you mail the tickets I purchase online?

No – online tickets are e-tickets. You may print your tickets at home or bring the ticket email on your mobile phone. Every individual needs their own ticket. We will have a list at registration of those who have purchased tickets.

Will tickets be available day of?

We can’t say for sure; it depends if we sell out before the event or not. If so, there will be a limited number available.

Where does the tour start?

Please start at the Registration table at the Children’s Garden in Fort Williams Park, where you will find signs to guide you and ample parking. When you register, you will be given information about the garden locations.

Is it a guided tour?

You may visit the gardens in any order you wish and spend as much or as little time as you like. Each garden will have volunteers, and some will have landscapers or owners to talk with if you have questions.

How many gardens are there? How do I know where they are?

For 2025, there are eight (8) gardens in total. At registration, you will receive a Cape Elizabeth Garden Tour program. Included in the program is a map with address locations and details about each garden.

What if it rains?

Unless the rain is torrential, the tour will be held as scheduled. Information concerning postponement, if necessary, would be posted on the Friends of Fort Williams Park Facebook page and www.fortwilliams.org

Can I bring my kids and dog?

Children are permitted on the tour; however, they must be supervised by an adult at all times. Those under 5 years old are admitted free; all others will need a ticket. Pets are NOT permitted.

Are the gardens handicapped accessible?

Gardens are not necessarily handicapped accessible. It’s a good idea to wear comfortable shoes, as a fair amount of walking may be involved.

Whom does the tour benefit?

The tour benefits the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Friends of Fort Williams Park. Proceeds from the tour will help support the largest environmental restoration project ever undertaken at the Park. Visit the Children’s Garden, Cliffside, Cliff Walk, and Lighthouse View sites to see what has already been accomplished!

Will lunches be available?

There are several good places for lunch in Cape Elizabeth, and surrounding communities, convenient to the garden locations. There are also some food trucks at the Park.
