The Rocks of Fort Williams Park
July 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
SPPL welcomes Professor Mark Swanson for a photographic tour through the rocks and geologic structures exposed at Fort Williams Park and the Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine on Tuesday, July 16th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Main Library. The rocks at this popular coastal park display a long 400 million year history of folding, stretching, shearing, fracturing, veining, dike intrusion and erosion long before being submerged beneath the ocean, buried by glacial sediment and then uplifted to where they are today. Come for a visual field trip through the fascinating rocks and structures that you can see throughout this spectacular coastal location!
